I think this design of toscana gilet should fit in perfectly with the new Russian influence on fashion so I will refer to it as my Russian Style Toscana Gilet. I have made this design for a while now but not in the toscana wool. A shortwool version has been much admired and I was asked to try the design in toscana. I am pleased with the result as was my customer who had the little black brisa gilet pictured above. The turned edges of the gilet show off the tipping in the toscana wool with a very pretty feathered look but the style is quite smart and very easy to wear. The wool turned out will be individual to each gilet as you can see from the examples. It isn’t possible to get quite the same balance in the sheepskin wool as the natural gilets due to both sides of the pieces of sheepskin being turned. Although I was a little concerned about this at first I think the curls and swirls doing their own thing add to the character of each gilet The cut of this gilet is best suited to smaller sizes and straighter shapes. I can add small leather ties that hang behind the front edges when they are not tied. The brown gilet pictured to the right is made with nappalan finish toscana brisa. The gilet is not made as reversible but usually looks quite good on the wool side.
